ABOUT GOLDRUSH
In the initial years of operation the company operations resulted in a fragmented organisation. During 2011, the company initiated a consolidation process. This comprehensive consolidation plan was presented by the CEO, CFO and advisors to the management and major shareholders throughout 2011. Every shareholder in the group supported and endorsed the plan to consolidate. This resulted in the creation of a structured and consolidated group of companies re-branded as the Goldrush Group of companies.
The Goldrush Group now has divisions utilising the primary name, such as Goldrush Bingo, Goldrush Casino’s, Goldrush Slots, and G-Bets.
The Goldrush Group is now a diversified gaming company holding interests in bingo, sports betting and LPM licences throughout all nine Provinces.
The group currently employs 1500 people and is BBBEE certified.
OVERVIEW
The Group has almost 20 years of operating in the Southern African gambling market and these years of experience speaks volumes of our intention to be the best and stay the best.
The Goldrush Group is extremely sensitive to the level of unemployment, especially amongst the youth in the communities in which it operates its business. Over the years the Group has adopted a policy of targeting unemployed persons between the ages of 22 and 35 years, especially the previously disadvantaged youth.
The Group currently directly employs over 1500 people including head office, provincial offices and the respective branches in each sector. Goldrush is proud of the fact that the majority of staff currently employed within the Group have been trained in-house. The Group has developed and refined an array of training and development programmes, which has allowed the Group to attract, develop, train and retain the most talented people and empower them to reach their full potential, while recognising and rewarding innovation and excellence. These skilled personnel are enabling Goldrush to retain its position as the number one bingo operator in South Africa and grow in the LPM and Sports Betting sectors.
Currently, 90% of the Goldrush management and staff teams, whether they are based at Head Office, provincial offices or at the operational branches, are PDI. Over 50% of this group are females.
Goldrush do not believe that any other operator can match these statistics and prove this level of mentoring and skills transfer.
Our proudly South African organisation lives to give back and enrich those around us. This is a core part of our values.
Goldrush Bingo was awarded the first Bingo licences in Gauteng during 1998 and the first licenced operation in South Africa become operational on the 1st October 1998.
The bingo industry in South Africa has grown since the introduction of Electronic Bingo in 2005. These advances in technology have allowed bingo to align itself with other sectors of the gambling industry. This has attracted new players from the younger generation in South Africa, which has assisted in our growth.
The Group owns and operates bingo in the following Provinces:
- Gauteng
- Mpumalanga
- Kwa-Zulu Natal
- North-West
- Eastern Cape
- Limpopo (Recently Awarded)
Further significant potential for bingo licences exists in the provinces of Free State, Northern Cape and Western Cape. None of these provinces have as yet invited applications for Bingo licences.
Additional attractions at bingo sites include licensed bars and dining facilities. Newer bingo developments have included dedicated restaurants as part of the mix.

The Group has interests in Route Operator Licences. These licences allow Goldrush to place Limited Pay-out Machines (LPMs) in pubs, taverns, social clubs and other gambling venues. Strict criteria is required to be met by the owner of the premises so that they are fit and proper to participate in the gambling industry.
Generally, up to 5 machines may be placed in each licensed premises (but this can be up to 40 under certain conditions). Goldrush place the machines in the site premises on a revenue share basis.
Goldrush have route operator licenses to distribute and operate LPM’s in the following provinces:
- Gauteng
- Limpopo
- North west
- Northern Cape
- Free State
- Lesotho (National license)
The diversification of the Group into the LPM sector was due to the slow roll out of bingo and as such the company decided to enter the Limited Payout Machines (LPM) sector in Gauteng and this introduced the Goldrush brand for the first time. Under a very tough bidding process, the company was awarded their first Route Operator licence to operate 1,000 LPMs. The Group was honoured with No.1 bidder status in this process. The first Limited Payout Machines went live in Gauteng in mid-2009.
This successful application led to applications in other provinces as detailed above.

- North West
- KZN
- Eastern Cape
The Group operates these licences utilizing an on-line portal as well as land based sites.
Given the success of these operations, the Group has expanded its footprint into Africa with operations being developed in Lesotho, Tanzania and Botswana.
